Osteopath Amsterdam’s approach

If you are visiting Osteopath Amsterdam for the first time, or with a new complaint, you will first have an initial consultation. This is followed by a comprehensive examination. After the initial consultation and examination, the actual treatment begins. In most cases, this can be done during your first visit. Occasionally, treatment will start during a follow-up appointment.

Osteopathy intake

We start with an intake interview, also known as an anamnesis. During this interview, the osteopath tries to get an impression of how your complaints arose. In order to get a good and complete impression, it is important to gain insight into your medical history, any family complaints and lifestyle habits.

Osteopathy examination

Osteopath Jop Mur manually examines the body (with his hands) for mobility. In this way, he attempts to identify any blockages and/or movement restrictions that may be related to the complaint. Afterwards, the findings are discussed, an explanation is given about the origin of the complaints, and finally, a plan of action is discussed.

Osteopathic treatment

Osteopathic treatment is always manual and often takes place in areas other than where the complaint is located. Appointments are not scheduled close together, because the body needs time to respond to the treatment. It is possible that the symptoms may worsen after treatment, as this may be due to the body adjusting to the treatment.

Clothing during treatment

Men often wear boxer shorts/underwear, possibly with a T-shirt or shirt. If women feel comfortable, they can wear or bring (cotton) yoga or jogging trousers with a shirt for during the treatment. If you prefer to keep all your clothes on, that is also fine.

Reviews

“I had a nagging pain in my back for a while. Sessions with my physiotherapist had little effect and it kept coming back. This osteopath/Jop has a very relaxed approach and I felt very at ease. But more importantly, I no longer have any complaints and can carry heavy loads again!”
